For one, I like outer space more than anything because of the many mysteries and adventures in the final frontier. While space tourism might be more expensive than any travel package we’ve had so far, it is actually one worth saving up for and maybe worth the money. Believe it or not, many industries are looking to outer space as the next big thing in the next two decades of humanity.
The Budget Suites of America Hotels has shown interest in setting up habitable space stations that can be affordable for corporate communities. The chain owner Robert Bigelow calls the latest project Bigelow Airspace.
The Space Island Group, a pioneering private space contractor, is planning to make a ring-shaped space infrastructure designed to provide commercial space. The company intends to build the infrastructure out of empty NASA space shuttle fuel tanks and have it 400 miles above Earth. The space city will be designed to parallel the Earth’s gravitational pull.
Space Adventures also plans to fly tens and thousands of people to space in the next two decades using orbital and sub-orbital ships around the moon and back. They are also designing space ports on Earth and Space.
While the International Space Station is an intriguing setting, it is made purely for research. But tourists must want rooms that would be similar to those found on Earth. The Space Island Group states that the hotel they plan to design intends to exhibit the amenities of hotels on Earth. This includes having the ability to walk with natural gravitational pull around the structure, have running water, recycling plants, small parks and entertainment venues. Space walks would also be available to tourists.
However, the biggest trouble is that space tourism might cost triple or quadruple the price we pay for all-around-Europe-trips. But then, we still have two decades to save up for these right?
